Are there any PF tennis players out there?

I play tennis all of the time. I love to play and love to practice. (about 4 times per week) About three weeks ago I developed this pain in my heal. I didn't know what it was. I had recently switched to a new pair of Head Contourtech 6000 tennis shoes which were supposed to be very comfortable and supportive. (My favorite was the Nike Air Max 2 which are no longer manufactured) Now I can hardly walk in the morning. I've taken steriods, ice therapy, taped my foot, stretching as well as massage with little relief. I've also worn orthodics for 1 yr. and 9 mo. prior to the injury. I don't want surgery. Not playing is driving me crazy. How long do you lay off tennis before trying to play through the pain? How sever was the pain afterwards and does playing tennis cause further damage?
