I am trying acupuncture, again. I had 5 or more months of treatments, 2 or 3 times per week, 2 years ago, with moderate success. By that, I mean that I was also icing, getting PT, taking NSAIDS, etc., so not sure how much, if any, of my recovery at that time was from the acupuncture. But, I flared up really bad again 18 months ago, and am just now getting back to acupuncture (after everything else has failed to help). I do get pain relief, as my acupuncturist explained, the treatments do cause the release of pain-killing endorphins. So, the relief isn't too long-lived. I am thinking of adding yoga and massage, both known for endorphin release, too. My dr. is Chinese, and was a medical dr. in China. I have also been to a Vietnamese dr. of acupuncture, who was good. And, a white guy who grew up in US. I couldn't tell any difference in the response I got between the drs.
