I have suffered similarly and tried a great variety of things. The one thing that has helped has been a chiropracter named Todd Staker in Cary, NC. He was trained in a method called Active Release Technique (ART) and uses it with a professional hockey team. It is a method of working with injury to muscles, tendons, and fascia. It involves a deep massage technique aimed at breaking down the adhesions caused by scar tissue. It is somewhat painful in the moment but the results for me were immediate. I have been engaged with this modality for three weeks and have 60 to 70% improvement. I had been on crutches and in various forms of treatment for 6 months while the condition steadily worsened. A good deal of the numbness and burning sensation has ceased. I tried adding a custom orthodic and it worsened my symptoms so I am keeping with ice, relafen, golf ball massage, mild stretching, and 3 times a week active release. I am pleased with my progress. I had been in the pit of despair. Before this I was an active person.
This method was developed by a chiropracter in Colorado and has been used with elite athletes for over a decade. I believe the orignators name is Michael Leahy. It is well worth a try.
Good luck!
