My heels have lost its fat pads due to only one cortisone
shot on the side of each foot. Does anyone know of
any treatments that put the fat back? A friend said she
saw a new treatment on Dr. Dean Edell but I missed it.
Also, I have tried every pad, shoe insert imaginable and
still cannot walk a step without intense pain. The loss
of fat pad made my PF a lot worse.

Rozd,
Wow, I have had like 10 shots and my fat pads seem ok.....I must have some thick
fat pads.
I do wonder though if it has made scar tissue!!!

You might want to check the web for all the "sports medicine sites" discussing blown
tendons from repeated cortisone to athletes, etc.
Also, Scotts old heelspurs site under the runners and surgery posts tell much about
related issues dealing with scar tissue, blown facias, lost fat pads etc. -- all from
cortisone shots. They are not a cure as you must know since you've had so many (10)
and still have PF, but they also come with many long term risks of permanent
damage... my doctor told me it was alittle like Russian roulette - could happen on the
first shot or the next or the 4th... and he wouldn't even give me a second one in the
same foot.

I can't remember if I have posted this or just told someone, but I had a cortisone shot
in each foot last January.
Not only did the shot hurt like mad, but I never got any relief. I could not even sleep
that night from the pain.
Ever since then I think my PF has been worse. But to be fair I have a friend who had
the set of 3 cortisone shots, wears heel pads and has never had a problem since.
I personally would never have another cortisone shot.

I know several people who just have a little plastic heel thing in their shoes and are
just fine. That was what I started out with. NO help as you know.
Coritzone only covers up. Maybe for people who just found out about the pain they
can have one or two but if it doens't help after that, forget it. Cortizone is just a cover
up and it does hurt very badly for over a day.
