For me--permanent change in activity level necessary
Posted by Kelly on 11/28/98
I've previously posted descriptions of my foot problem so I won't do that here. To be brief, I injured my feet about 4 years ago. This past summer I finally found a multi-faceted self-help treatment routine that has helped me tremendously. But, I know there is no going back to the way I used to be. I don't think I will ever run or jog again in this lifetime. I have my condition pretty much under control now, but even a short emergency "trot-jog" to catch one of our wandering cows yesterday has made me feel my plantar fasciitis try to flair up. I know we must all have similarities in our symptoms just as we must all have variations of the problem...I read about people jogging, running, getting back to their old weight bearing exercises and I know they are different than me! My goal last summer was to take at least a year to try to find a way to get enough relief to be able to teach, take care of my family, shop, etc. and not be disabled by my feet. Thankfully, I am there now...but it is something I must constantly monitor. I hope each of you finds the right combination of things that help. Last July I was so beat down. I was wanting the surgery just because I thought something has to change. I just wanted to sit and not get up at night. Luckily I found this site and after reading about many people's post-surgery problems I tried all the other suggestions. Enough for now. Don't give up fellow foot pain sufferers!
