Doctors & Insurance
Posted by Bobbie on 11/28/98
My insurance will not cover the cost of a night splint or orthodics. After three years my doctor has finally referred me for one visit to a podiatrist. I am very frustrated because I feel the doctors I have seen have no sympathy or understanding of how painful or debilitating this condition is. I have spent a lot of money out of my pocket for arch supports, shoes, creams, vitamins, etc. If I want to try something, other than cortisone which I have already done four times, I have to pay for it. So why do we have insurance? I have had more help and understanding from this message board than anytime during the three years I have suffered with this problem. If I actually found a doctor who would sit down and listen to me and understood my frustration I would probaby give them a big hug and break down in tears.Sorry, just had to vent my frustration with HMO's and physicians.
