Ask your dr. if its Lateral Column Pain Syndrome. Also, check out the Surgery board on Scott's web page - there are some comments about this problem post-surgery. My dr. says it occurs in about 3% of cases after surgery. Its caused by walking on the foot before the fascia is fully healed, and that causes the forces to be transferred to the outer side of the foot, and results in inflammation.

Or, something like that! Ask your dr.; he should know all about this.

Best of Luck - this is not what anyone needs after surgery. I had surg. 3 weeks ago, and was recovering fine; then, I started a swimming program (with dr's blessing); but, his idea of swimming was paddling around; I went out and did 25 minutes of laps for 3 days in a row. So, ended up with my foot inflammed - feels just like it did pre-op. So, I am still on crutches 3 weeks after surgery. And, it looks like I won't be walking on it for another 2 weeks or so. At least, the dr. said, I won't get lateral column pain syndrome!
