I have played many different sports, including a lot of basketball, badminton, touch football, rugby, etc., over the years I'm not a runner, though!). I suffered with PF for two years without relief. I continued to play all these sports and got to the point that I didn't know what I looked like to walk without a limp anymore. I have had many different treatments, and had many different shoes suggested to me. It came down to this: Once I got it rested enough, and once I got orthotics made for my feet, I could play anything I wanted regardless of the type of shoe. I would have to say that overall, my cleats were the worst, and even when I was having no other pain, I sometimes had a a little discomfort after a few hours wearing cleats (even with my orthotics in them). So for me, I did not see any difference with basketball shoes. However, I do not know how much time you play per day/week. Perhaps the combination of shoes and time would not work for you! Good luck!
