Birkenstock info to share (warning: lengthy!)

Hi everybody! My Birkenstocks have been so helpful in reducing my PF pain, that I wanted to share what I've learned about them. I have several pairs of sandals in a regular width, and they're quite comfortable but the straps are a bit loose even on the buckled in the last hole. Well, I finally saved enough money that I could go to a Birk store and buy "real" shoes, i.e. not sandals. My sandals had come from www.birkenstockexpress.com sale page, where I got cheaper prices for discontinued styles and colors. My feet really swam around in the closed shoes, and the saleswoman suggested I try a narrow size. I have never taken a narrow shoe before, but I tried on a pair and they fit great! She said that Birks are such a wide shoe that many people need to wear a narrow when they don't in other brands. Also, I needed a size larger than I did in the sandals, which she said is typical.
I may start walking for exercise again now that I have shoes that let me walk without pain. I've also had great luck with the blue silk insoles, I have been able to fit them in most of my shoes (but I don't wear dainty girl shoes much) and even stuffed them in a pair of rented ice skates the other day! Well worth the price, as they give the shoes you already have the support of a Birkenstock.
Best wishes for pain-free feet for all!
Kristen
