Re: Flat feet vs high arches

I think this is a good idea. Maybe this will shed some light on which treatments work for which people. I have tried so many treatments simultaneously that I am not really sure what is working. I have made a lot of progress in that I am finally functional (can drive, make dinner, do small errands, laundry, etc), but I still have a long way to go.

When I first got PF in Sept, my doctors both told me my right foot was more flat footed than my left. Since then, my right foot has made significant progress while my left foot has only improved slightly. Now the same doctors watched me walk recently and said my left foot is more flat footed than my right! My rehab doctor believes that with enough exercise, you can overcome flat-footedness and doesn't believe in orthotics at all. It's so frustrating that I can see 4 top notch doctors and get 4 opinions!

Well, that's my status update. I am focusing on how far I've come, not how far I still have to go.

I have found taping, soft orthotics in running shoes or SAS, Relafen and tylenol, exercise and night splints have helped. Glucosamine sulfate, accupuncture and semi-rigid orthotics did nothing or exacerbated the problem.
