I also know people who work at home doing technical writing (reviews of various computer products and technoloies) at a company called Gartner/Datapro in NJ. Also, a friend with a medical background does medical transcriptions.
Basically any kind of writing, analysis or typing job can be done from home. You need to consider your skills and background to figure out what you can write about. In this job market, networking with friends, relatives and professional contacts is the best way to find something. Also I would look in the paper under writing, editing, technical writing, transcription and analysis .
I just thought of another type of job. I have a friend who does graphics design work on a PC from home.
Hope this helps. Good luck. Many companies support telecommuting these days, so if you read about a job that seems possible to do from home, apply and try to work out the arrangement.
Work has saved my sanity through this ordeal. If anything, PF has helped my work situation. Since I couldn't do anything else, I worked most weekends and turned everything in early, so I have been getting more projects!
