I haven't had this as long as you have--so maybe this is overly obvious (I am still learning)--but my doctor keeps telling me I don't want the surgery because I am very active (2 kids and run) and he said that I could easily fracture my heel afterward. I have asked about recovery time--He actually noted that it could take up to a year for my heel to regenerate back to where it should be.
