On the real non-invasive end of things, I can suggest Birkenstocks. They have wonderful arch support. (I used to have high arches; they are lowering a bit with age.) In less than 2 weeks, they have really influenced my walking and standing ability, and they have reduced my a.m. pain. Also, can recommend glucosamine sulfate. I am taking about 1800 mg a day; my feet feel better so I presume it's helping. I try to keep my Achilles tendon stretched, but for me, I have found that real foot stretching and foot exercise generally result in an overly achy foot. I hope you pass on cortisone and surgery; lots of people on this board recommend against them, and only a handful recommend in their favor.
