However, I have found that the pain moves around--the back of my arch near the heel, the ball of the foot, and when I wear orthotics or any shoe with an arch support the arches of both feet hurt a lot--unbearable really--I simply can't use arch supports or orthotics.
I was told that I did not have "classic" PF by 2 docs--one suggested it might be tendonitis--the other suggested nerve involvement. I am going to have the nerve conduction test in a couple of weeks to see if I can get a more accurate diagnosis. One set of cortisone shots made it worse--taping did not help--ultra sound did not help--orthotics were unbearable--Birkenstocks are unbearable--
Meanwhile, I find I do best if I just wear sandals with a half inch heel and no arch support or orthotics.
Also someone on the board suggested the following routine which I do once a day and I notice more pain if I skip this routine.
Soak in hot water for 10 minutes
Roll on a 4" cylindrical piece of styrofoam for 10 minutes
Soak in hot water for 10 minutes
Ice for 10 minutes (I put my feet on a blue cold pack)
Soak in hot water for 10 minutes
Ice for 10 minutes.
Good luck. This routine is time consuming, but it does seem to help. Please let me know if you are able to get a diagnosis.
