I also agree that tight calf muscles can affect the plantar fascia. Along with that, if you also have tight hamstrings, like I do, it can be a double whammy. So, I'm doing lots of stretches for both sets of muscles and it does help. Something that usually goes along with these tight muscles is a posterior pelvic tilt (you know, the domino effect). So I also do pelvic tilts (lying down) and have figured out how to do them standing up, too. Please ask someone who knows about these exercises how to do them. A physical therapist helped me. When I practice all this, my body weight is more centered over my feet - not just on my heels and it does help. Good luck.
