Please read all the messages on this board. You will see that most people have not been helped by surgury. Cortisone is very risky with many bad side effects and is not a cure by any stretch of the imagination.Merely takes some of the pain away for awhile if you are lucky/ There are no quick answers and everyone reacts differently to different therapys. To dstart with I would forget about the podiatrist and see an orthopedic man, a good one and go from there. Good luck and stay in touch.
