Re: WHAT AN UNDERSTANDING BUNCH

I have heel spurs big time, I've had them for years, but they've never hurt. My feet are totally flat, always have been, and both my calf muscles and my PF tendon are shortened and inflexible. The heel spurs grow 100% straight forward from the heel toward the toe, the body is putting down calcium to take the strain off the PF tendon which also runs from the heel toward the toe. That worked just fine until the stress got too much and the tendon started to pull loose from the heel, PF. I was taped, didn't find it did much, tried OTC inserts which didn't help much, tried cortizone shot which hurt like the dickens and lasted less than 3 weeks, cannot wear athletic shoes, tried nearly every brand and they all cause a lot of pain. What I do have is hard custom orthotics which I wear in tightly laced up shoes 23 1/2 hours a day. Barefoot is a thing of the past, not even in the shower, any heel at all is wear at my own risk, ice and stretch and occasional Daypro on really bad days only since I don't want to become dependent on it and it can cause stomach problems if taken for too long. I hope you find relief too, and keep coming to the board, it's a good place to vent and share with other sufferers. It helps me to know that I'm not the only person with this, but we all wish that no one had it at all.
