Re: Dexamethasone by iontophoresis worsens pain

The burning sensation in the instep is very familiar to me I have had it so badly that I couldn't stand even to touch my own instep. I have a neurological condition called Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT for short) .
Another name is peroneal muscular atrophy. It causes a gradual deterioration of the muscles from the knees down and from the elbows down;you can look it up on the net if you want. The point is that I have not been able to cure my plantar fasciitis for two years; the only thing I have not tries is weight loss (30 lbs.) acupuncture or surgery. Check out the neuropathy angle. There may not be anything you can do but at least you know you have a kindred spirit who knows exactly what that electric shock/burning sensation is like. I've found that I have to be very assertive with podiatrists and therapists about the tenderness and excruciating sensitivity. They usually grab my foot roughly even after I tell them to be gentle. I don't think they comprehend how painful it is. The only person I've found who is gentle is the person who makes my orthodics. She makes all kinds of supports for disabled children in the local children's hospital.
Try to keep your hope up. I find it consoling to know that my symptoms are part of a disease that has a name! It also doesn't kill you. Just makes you somewhat handicapped it you live long enough.
Hope this has helped; it's not all in your head and you're not a whimp.
Demand to be treated very, very gently. Cheers and good luck!
