Barbara - read some of the earlier messages on the board about ossatron. It is not performed in the US yet, but seems promising. The ossatron is the machine that performs a technique called orthotripsy. Laser pulses hit the plantar fascia, breaking up the scar tissue from tearing and inflammation. I think they are using a local anesthetic now to help with some localized pain the laser causes. It's relatively expensive, but when you get to the point some of us have gotten to, it's probably going to be worth it. There is a phone number in Canada, where the procedure is being performed. Look back several weeks of messages.
