I had a soft cast, also called a unibootie, on my foot for 2 weeks and it did more harm then good. The cast is very uncomfortable, painful & I had difficulty sleeping. When the cast was taken off my ankle was weak because I was not walking correctly and the cast was very tight around my ankle and I could not bend it. I do not recommend a cast at all. Hope it helps your mom.
