I have a friend (a fellow nurse, so on her feet A LOT) who recommended surgery to me. She had the surgery more than ten years ago and to quote her "I never looked back" She has been totally free of pain since then, despite still being on her feet a lot and being about 40 lbs. overweight. So it appears to work for some! Good luck and best wishes for your recovery.
