They do make shoes too, suitable for working in more conservative dress codes, but they are quite pricey, in that $200 range.
Heheh I thought I had to get a quartz crystal and change my name to moonbeam to get birkenstocks, but for sure they are designed as orthopedic before they were faddish.
Tho, keep in mind that most retailers of birkenstocks (and SAS's, too) Are in it for fashion rather and do not understand the medical implications of orthopedic shoes. Try on several sizes, wide, narrow, regular, etc. to be SURE you find the right one for you!
They will feel really uncomfortable and wierd at first, but after a couple of days they break in and feel better, and the more youwear them, the better they feel. So jsut find the best fit, and try to ignore the wierdness of it, becuaese most people aren't used to support being under their foot in all those places. Takes getting used to.
