I was diagnosed with tarsal tunnel syndrome in 1995 after a car accident. I have had two surgeries, physical therapy, nerve conduction tests, steroid injections, and medication therapy. After all of this I still walk with a cane and require narcotic pain relievers to sleep when it really flares up. I would really like to correspond with someone else who has tarsal tunnel syndrome to see what type of treatment has been recommended to you. The last surgery I had was over a year ago and they took a vein out of my lower leg and wrapped it around the nerve to try and desensitize it. It has lessened the symptoms somewhat, but they are still fierce. I have also found that cold will really fire up the nerve and cause unbelievable pain. I also have swelling and numbness that increases with the level of activity.
