I would guess that if walking is bad for you, so would machine assisted walking. . .

isnt it the pressure on the foot on the ligaments and such that creates the problems?

Tho I suppose here are many who can get over their inflamation and lead normal, walking filled lives and avoid repeated occurances of these problems.
