Does anyone know of any research programs for plantar fasciitis

I seems to me that all the treatments available are the same, ice, injections, exercises, shoes. I'm curious to know if there are any research programs going on anywhere that I might be able to take part in. I'm hoping that there is and that they haven't given up trying other possible ways of treating this horrible plantar fasciitis. Would appreciate any information.
