I can certainly relate to what you are going through. I have had surgery for tarsal tunnel two times since my injury in 1995. I am sorry to tell you that it may not get better for a long, long time. I still have swelling, and I use a cane to keep the pressure off so that the nerve doesn't fire so much. The doctor has said that I have a hypersensitive nerve. There was even talk of severing the nerve at one point, but then I may have no pain, but then I would have a deformed foot. The hot summer weather has helped because I have found that cold weather really fires it up. If you need to vent feel free to e-mail me because I have been there done that and staying off of it doesn't help and neither do painkillers no matter how strong a narcotic you use. Even morphine doesn't cut the pain at first. Hang in there !!!
