I belong to Kaiser Permanente, and I knew they did not cover orthotics. I got pretty nervous when I read here they can cost hundreds of $$! So I was quite relieved that I had a pair of custom orthotics made and it only cost me $57. Dr said they order them at cost from the manufacturer, and don't pass along any markup to the patient. Just wanted to let folks know, in case anyone was avoiding going to the Dr. for fear of being told they needed $400 custom orthotics! They're being made for me now, so I can't tell you if they'll help me or not. I did get night splints made at Kaiser for no charge, and they seem to be helping somewhat.
