Back in 1983 I started with that "lump" feeling in the ball of my left foot, which now has the PF, and was told it was Morton's Neuroma--a growth on the nerve endings of the toes. I first went to a podiatrist who gave me that miserable shot of cortisone, but now I have my chiropractor pull on my toes and I'm pain free for quite a while and he adjusts my whole body for the same fee (co-pay). My PF is getting much better as I'm starting my 2nd full week in the Arizona Birkenstocks and what a difference they are making. I am wearing two braces at night and since the first night have not had a single pain in the morning when I walk to the bathroom without the braces or shoes. The rest of the day, the Birks are on my feet!! I had a surprise 50 birthday party on Friday night and thank goodness I had iced my feet before going out to what I thought was just dinner with my family. 35 people were at the restaurant and my friends know me so well I was given a sweatshirt by my daughter's in-laws that had a big Yield sign on the back for slow moving. Also another friend embroidered a denim shirt with "My Achy Breakie Everything" with appliqued bears with bandaged feet and crutches. I took it all in stride (like to be walking), but my friends have had to suffer the pain with me. Every time someone brings up going somewhere where walking is involved, I still cringe because I have not worn anything but the Birks now and don't want to think of wearing anything else or even walking far yet. The chiropractor also gave me Collegens for the connective tissue because he said the Glucosomine etc. is more for the joints. I'm taking both. What a joke to see all these "horse" horse pills lined up on the counter in the morning and at night. I certainly don't look forward to having to figure out how to pack all my bottles for the next trip. Time to attach my braces for the night. I no longer wake up when I have to turn over. These braces weigh 2 1/2 pounds each.
