Dear Kelly
Good luck with your PF. It is true that it does seem to take over your life. I had resigned myself to a life of no walking. The VERY best thing I did was find this site. I learned a lot about what to do for myself. (Far more than from the professionals I visited) I started to get better when I took responsibility for my own recovery. The things that worked most for me were: 1)Elevate your feet whenever possible. Put a pillow under your feet in bed. 2)Never, ever, go barefoot. Wear a good supportive shoe or sandal at ALL times. 3)Don't wear flat shoes. Good sensible shoes (Mephisto, Birks, etc) with a bit of a heel raise 4) lots of massage -- use the roller, or a plastic pop bottle with ice in it. I also cream and massage my feet several times a day. 5)If you can, change your shoes a few times during the day. I wear Clark's sandals at home, my Mephistos at work and out, and my Saucony runners with my orthotics at the gym. The variety helps. 6) Stretch and flex all day long. Before you get out of bed, flex your feet, and do ankle rolls. It really helps. I am much better now. However, I still can not skip or hop or run at all without suffering the consequences. Even one jump is bad.
Good luck Hope some of this helps.

Lynn
