I had a heel spur removed, the fascia released, and i had tarsal tunnel surgery. Before the surgery i had constant pain, nonstop,
and already i have no pain while at rest...etc.
So far i am glad i went thru with the surgery. I will be getting the stitches out a week from this friday, and i can't put any pressure on my foot yet. I am hoping in the long run that this is worth it.
Date: 12/28/2001 . . . Pain Level: 1 . . . Activity Level: 1 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 10
I am so glad i had the surgery done. I am pain free for the first time in 15 years. I am still in the recovery stage, but it is 2 weeks after surgery and i already feel 75% better
Date: 01/11/2002 . . . Pain Level: 5 . . . Activity Level: 3 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 10
I went to the doctors today 1/11/02 My incision was killing me,and i found out today that my dissolving stitches didn't dissolve, instead they came up to the surface of the incision, and the doctor had to remove them. I still have no pain where i had pain before the surgery. I am still glad i had the surgery. My Achilles Tendon is so tight. The doc said i can start physical therapy in 2 weeks, after the infection has cleared up in my foot.
Date: 01/17/2002 . . . Pain Level: 3 . . . Activity Level: 3 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 10
I went to the doctor today for a recheck. The infection in my foot has cleared, but it is still red. I go back to the doctor in 2 weeks. He said I will be able to start physical therapy after my next appointment. I am so anxious to get back to the gym and lose the 14 lbs i have gained since september. I am still 100% satisfied with my decision to have the surgery. I am almost pain free, the only pain i have is in the incision, or if i try to walk on my heel. I know with physical therapy, I will be walking soon enough.
Date: 01/29/2002 . . . Pain Level: 8 . . . Activity Level: 3 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 10
I went to the doctor on 1/29/02, and he told me i had a build up of scar tissue. I also had more dissolving stitches make their way to the top of my scar, and he removed them. I was given a cortizone shot with lidocaine to help break up scar tissue. I am starting physical therapy on 1/30/02. I still am satisfied with my surgery because my pain is not constant as it was before surgery. I haven't walked on my heel yet because it is still really sore, and I have heard from a few people when they had a heel spur removed, they fractured their foot walking too early. I just hope i am feeling better by march 1st,so i can start weight training and get back in shape.
Date: 02/16/2002 . . . Pain Level: 4 . . . Activity Level: 4 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 10
I went to the doctor on February 13, 2002. I have made significant progress. When I started physical therapy on 1/30/02, I had 0% range of motion. I now have 30% range of motion. I still have pain, but not as severe or as long as before. I am still glad that I had the surgery. My incision finally is healed, but it is thick. Therapy is tough, though. Before I go to physical therapy, I take a pain killer. When they maneuver my foot it kills!
The therapist told me it is going to hurt because I haven't used some of the muscles, tendons, and ligaments in so long.
Date: 03/15/2002 . . . Pain Level: 1 . . . Activity Level: 5 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 10
I am now 2 months post op , and I feel great! I am so glad I went thru with the surgery. I am having my left foot done on March 29th, and I hope i have the same results. The only time I have had pain is this week, because I am doing strengthening exercises to get ready for surgery on my other foot. I still have a little numbness in my heel, but no more shooting pain. The only bad thing about this surgery was the 16 pounds i gained.

Date: 04/23/2003 . . . Pain Level: 5 . . . Activity Level: 5 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 3
I am now 1 yr,4 months post-op,and i just now finished physical therapy on my right foot. i can do weight bearing for 15 minutes, then i have severe foot pain, including nerve pain. my fascia is still unbelieveably tight. i have been doing the exercises the therapist gave me, but they don't seem to help. i wish i never had it done.
Date: 05/28/2003 . . . Pain Level: 10 . . . Activity Level: 1 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 1
My surgery was 12/17/2001, and i am in worse pain now than i was before the surgery. I am now 1 year 5 months post-op,and only have 15 minutes a day pain free, when i first get out of bed.
I totally regret having the surgery, and would never recommend anyone get it.
I am going to try E.S.W.T. in july, and i'm hoping that give me some kind of relief
Date: 06/17/2005 . . . Pain Level: 8 . . . Activity Level: 1 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 1
I still have pain and wished i never had this surgery. I have had no relief, and would definitely tell people run when a doctor suggests tarsal tunnel release and fascia release
