After 2 yrs of constant pain. I deciced it was time to have the EPF. I tried everything but ESWT. I just couldn't afford it. I am now 5 days post op. It's to early to tell yet if the surgery was a success.I do have some similar pain in the area that always bothered me,but it's nowhere as intense. I'm getting around pretty well with a boot and one crutch.
I'm not very good on a computer and have some problems navigating. I would like to thank everyone who has provided me with some very helpful information. Please feel free to contact me for info or to give me info. Thanks again Bud Palmer

I'm still feeling some surgery pain and I may be doing too much too soon. I have not had any PF pain since the surgery. The heel area is still tender and the incisions have healed nicely. So far so good after 24 days.

Date: 12/28/2003 . . . Pain Level: 2 . . . Activity Level: 7 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 9
I'm gettinag around very well now and my PF pain seems to be gone completely. There is some tingling in my heel and my arch seems to feel bruised. I have stopped wearing my perscription orthotics and replaced them with some over the counter soft Dr. Scholl's orthotics, called advantage arch supports. Since the surgery my orthotics seemed to be to hard. I actually had hard dress shoes on yesterday and went to a college hockey tournament. Woke up this morning and had no classic PF pain. The first time for hard dress shoes in over a year I haven't had any first step pain since the surgery.
After about two weeks I thought that the PF pain was trying to come back. I was getting a little burning sensation in my heel. It seemed to go away after I stretched. Tomorrow will make 7 weeks I am really pleased with my decision to have the EPF surgery. I'm going to take Dr. Z's advice and take it easy for a long time. I would like to be on the treadmill or glider by six months. I'll just wait and see how I feel then.
It's so nice to wake up in the morning and know I'm not going to go through the day struggling with excruciating pain. I'll do another update at 10 weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed and I continue to pray that the surgery is a complete success.

Date: 01/25/2004 . . . Pain Level: 2 . . . Activity Level: 8 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 9
It will be 13 weeks tomorrow since my surgery. I continue to get better everyday. The PF pain is all most completely gone. I still have some soreness in the arch of my foot. Some days I go all day with no pain at all. If I continue to progress like I am I am going to try and be back on the treadmill by April.I feel the surgery has been the right decision for me.I wish I would have made the decision sooner. I'll continue to update this board until I'm 100% if that's possible.

Date: 03/18/2005 . . . Pain Level: 1 . . . Activity Level: 9 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 10
I'm sorry that I stopped posting on this progress board,I completely forgot about it. The EPF surgery was the best decision I could have made. I wish I would have had the surgery sooner.March 10th was 16 months since my surgery. I have been pain free since about 10 months after the surgery. I constantly listen to my feet,if they start to hurt I stop what I'm doing. I wear Birks soft soles almost everywhere. I can wear dress shoes if I have to and for as long as I need. I can walk as long as I want but I try to keep it under an hour. If I remember I'll post again in a month.
