Date: 12/16/2003 . . . Pain Level: 8 . . . Activity Level: 3 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 8
Went for 1st post op visit- Dr. B said everything looked normal(I didn't look though), wound draining correctly, minimal swelling, rewrapped it. Notice the jump in pain level from my previous post.. I had surgery Friday pm ,[Hospital staff very courtious/professional/helpful((pre/post op)]-- Dr B calls me around 600pm Saturday, how's it going and "get ready for the pain", it's really going kick in soon, He was not kidding.
I have been icing it at all times, taking pain meds, staying down as much as possible with leg raised.(I HATE CRUTCHES!!)Learning to move around on one foot/crutches... staying the course, will report soon.

Date: 01/13/2004 . . . Pain Level: 6 . . . Activity Level: 5 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 8
30 Days post op
Went to Dr's office 6 days ago, switched from cast splint I've had since surgery, to air-cast. I love it-much more stable
No rush in putting weight on foot (Dr. B says in next week or so increase activity), using foot to balance, heel still hurts. Using Meds regularly to stop ache. I waited over two years to try to become pain free, I can be PATIENT with the healing process.
The challenges using crutches present are the most suprising thing to me about the whole process, I wasn't totally prepared for how hard it is/was. Still out of work -- (Communications/Voice-Data Cabling)not much you can do if you can't walk, run cables, carry equitpment. I would'nt be so happy without my great family helping me!!! Next office visit 1/19
Be back soon
