I have suffered with pain for 3 years now. We tried everything from stretching, ice, physical therapy, New Balance sneakers with inserts and a night brace. I had two cortizone shots and nothing helped. Surgery was the last chance I had to be pain free. This pain was interferring with my personal life as well as my job. I am manager of a shop and am on my feet all day. I could no longer take walks with my granddaughters. I would get home from work and have to sit with my foot elevated with ice.
I am one day after surgery and feel great. I have limited walking right now. To the bathroom and back. I was extremely sore the day of surgery so I used crutches for the first day. As long as I keep my foot elevated with ice above the ankle or behind my knee I am doing fine. I see the dr in 4 days to have the bandages removed. I hope to go back to work on Tuesday. I am lucky because I have a great boss that is going to let me sit behind the counter and work from there.

Hi. I am now 4 days post surgery and cant believe how well I am doing. I see my dr tomorrow to have the bandages removed. I still have some pain but is not anything like it was before surgery. I understand I do have to give it time to heal which could take serveral months. There is some concern about some pain on the outside of my foot but will speak to the dr about this. I will keep updating as I go.

I saw the dr Monday May 10th, 5 days post surgery. He said my wound looks great and I am doing great. I go back next Thursday the 20th to have the stitches removed. I am back to work a few hours a day. Yesterday I worked from 10 to 5, I sat most of the time behind the counter. I am fortunate to have a job that my boss allows me to do this. I wear my orthopedic shoe and can walk as much as I can. I do have to know my own restrictions. The surgery was alot easier then I thought it would have been. If I had to have the surgery again...righ now I would do it. Will update more as healing progesses.

Well here it is 1/29/05 and I am still in pain. Dr feels it is scar tissue causing my pain. I have to take breaks at work and sit down. I am not happy. I thought the surgery was going to take care of the pain. The Dr wants to try cortizone shot again. He suggested physical therapy but I refused. It didnt work the first time so why waste my time and the insurance money. I am not sure what I am going to do next.
