It's too soon to really tell if it has helped but I didn't suffer as much pain as I expected to. It's no worse than before the surgery.

This is week 4 after surgery. I'm back into my runner for most of the day. My foot is still a little sore at the incision site but all in all I'd say I'm doing pretty well. I expected to be a lot sorer a lot longer. I go back to see the dr. next week for a follow-up. My incision has not completely healed but looks very good.

I'll keep updating for those of you contemplating surgery.

It's been 5 weeks as of today. I saw the doctor yesterday and he is very pleased with my progess. My wound is almost all healed - I have a small scab left. I was told yesterday that I can go back to normal activity level now. I'm still stiff in the mornings and he suggested I do some more stretching to help with that. He also told me I'm probably looking at another 3 months to really be better from his experience. I'm happy I did the surgery I'm much better.

Date: 08/20/2004 . . . Pain Level: 1 . . . Activity Level: 8 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 9
I'm still stiff in the mornings 8 weeks post surgery but that lasts a short time. I'm still trying to wear my runners with the orthotics all the time. I wore sandals last Saturday for a wedding and was fine. It's coming along slowly, as expected.

Date: 09/23/2004 . . . Pain Level: 1 . . . Activity Level: 8 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 9
It's now 3 months after surgery. My foot is pretty good although I still get twinges of pain especially if I overdo it. The pain is not bad though. The bad news is that the other foot is acting up. Not nearly as badly as the first so far though. I don't know whether it's really getting worse or just that the pain is not bad in the left foot and now I just feel the right one more. I keep holding off and hoping that it will get better.

I'm still doing well. My non-surgery foot bothered me for some time after the surgery last June but now even it seems better. I think I was over using it to compensate prior to having the surgery and it flared up. I'd say I'm pretty good. I still have some pain when I over do it but NOT the terrible pain I was having.

For the person who posted:
Find someone that you trust to do your surgery. I'm not sorry at all that I did it! It took a long time to recover and I'm VERY careful to where my shoes and orthotics! No bare feet any more!
