Still on crutches until stitches come out on or around the 2nd of February. I am experiencing minimal post-op pain and am so far extremely pleased with results I am seeing. I will post another entry once the stitches have been removed and I begin to try weight bearing.

Still very pleased with results so far. I am now at 10 days post-op and have had only one 'bad day' which was helped by simply removing the heavy dressing. I was experiencing pins and needles surface pain and a deep 'electric' pain, but both have subsided and my pain level has decreased back to almost nil. The only pain I have comes when I move my foot in such a way that it pulls the heel too much. It's still a little early to be trying to do too much in the way of stretching or pulling on the heel, but I'm noticing progress daily in the healing process. The incision site (1 1/2 inches long) looks wonderful and I hope to have the stitches removed on my Friday (2/2/2001) visit.

Went for my first post-op appointment today and had the stitches removed. I did find out today that the fascia release performed was a partial release of 50%. I was told that I could start weight bearing and should do so as soon as the pain I feel upon weight bearing lets up a little. I currently feel very little (almost no) pain unless I try standing. The pain is a severe sore sensation rather than stabbing or searing and I'm feeling very optimistic that this pain will let up over the next few days. I can do a lot of stretching without any pain at all and am feeling like I'm getting a lot of the mobility back in my calf just from stretching it slowly and gently. I am having some electric nerve pain when I rub over a spot on my incision, but I'm hoping this is temporary. It does make it a bit difficult to do the massage on the incision I was instructed to do today, but I don't want to end up in PT for deep massage by someone else. I'll keep up the massage myself and try to endure the pain to keep the scar tissue under control. Overall I'm still feeling quite positive and encouraged by my continuing progress.

Date: 02/12/2001 . . . Pain Level: 10 . . . Activity Level: 4 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 10
Still recovering nicely from surgery. Don't let the level of pain fool you, I am walking without crutches and the pain I'm feeling is all soreness now which I am confident will subside over time. There are times, without pain meds, that I get up and walk with much less pain than I was experiencing pre-op. All of the nerve pain has completely subsided and I have regained feeling in all of my foot.

Date: 02/25/2001 . . . Pain Level: 1 . . . Activity Level: 8 . . . Satisfaction with surgery: 10
I am currently mostly pain free. I couldn't be more pleased with the results of the surgery. The only time I feel any pain is after over-exerting myself. Meaning, after walking for 3 hours at work or taking a trip to the mall. And even then the pain is less intense than it was pre-op.
