My achy foot "POPPED"

OW!!!Had an achy left foot for 6 weeks and then as I was stepping up a step it POPPED.. it was really loud and hurt incredibly. Was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis,treatment is Naproxen and rest. Have searched thu Yahoo and found a lot of info..however it's a little scary...seems to be a long term condition. Did the "POP" mean I did some real damage? Drs.only talked about inflammation..foot really hurts. It is good to know there are folks that understand...I feel old(I'm 37..not that old)and like my body is letting me down.
