I also gave up karate when my pf was at its worst. Being barefoot, kicking, etc is a definite no-no with this disease. I also think that the answer to your question can't be answered. Everybody is different, some people will heal quickly and others will never find complete relief. I think you are doing the right things. I was told that biking and swimming was ok for exercise - I'd be wary of aerobics. You could try different shoe inserts, orthotics, etc. I never had much luck with heel pads. Others on this list have had success with different types of shoes (Birkenstocks, etc). As far as dietary supplements, glucosamine and others have been mentioned. I have no experience with them. For me, surgery was the only way to get complete relief - but I am in the minority! But this decision was made after 5 years of conservative therapy and with a Dr. I trusted completely. The important thing to remember is not to get frustated and give up. I have always been told that the majority of PF patients improve with conservative therapy - just give it time. Also, your history of morning pain suggests that you could benefit from night splints or other techniques that keep your fascia stretched through the night. Good luck!!
