the low rent guide to orthotics and supplements.

Just a quick note:
Besides Acupunture, My chiropractor had suggested orthotics and podiatry, but in the interim, also suggested I try a product called "dyna-step" from Dr. Scholl.s. If your willing to shell out $11 you can at least see if custom orthotics are something you should pursue later on. Granted, cu$tom units will probably be better. [ or worse, any comments?] I've never tried true custom made appliances, so I have no idea what the norm is, but these things work pretty decent. If you are flat footed such as myself, the product provides a fair amount of pressure relief off the arch and heel. It kind of felt like my foot was taped. Didn't want to waste anybody's time, but it might be worth a shot for some. And without abusing the larger retail chains, at least they are returnable.

Between these things, the magnetic insoles, heel cups and everything else I have more feet stuff than actual feet. I'm thinking it might be easier to just strap two pillows to my feet and call it a day.

Regarding Glucosamine sulfate, Wal-Mart and other retailers are now carrying a Nature's Bounty product with the exiting name: Chondroitin Glucosamine Complex.
The tablets are rated at 500mg each and are in sulfate form. Also contains the essential vitamin C. They sell for $15.95 for a 60 tablet supply.

Also would like to add my 2 cents regarding another supplement, St. John's Wort. The so-called "nature's prozac" I wouldn't call these happy pills, but bearing the fact that PF, Heel Spurs, etc are brow beating enough, anything that helps keep the spirt even keeled can't be all bad....I've been taking St. John's for about 7 months and I can attest that it works as a general mood elevator. So do martinis and shopping, but that's another strategy.....
