Dear Ken,
From one of the 4 Dr.'s I've seen for Pf, I've heard of chronic heel pain. I think He said about 2-6% of patients with Pf continue to have chronic heel pain, I did not ask for how long it continues, I think I was afraid to know the answer. I have had Pf for two years now and I still cannot stand or walk for anymore than 5 minutes without having to sit down. I was being followed by a Orthopedic foot Dr. for these last 2 yrs. I had two walking casts, physical therapy, home stretching exercises, heel inserts, etc. I have since last week decided to go to a podiatrist, who gave me a cortisone injection, taped my foot, started me on Medrol (6 days of steroids), cut a hole in my heel insert because I also have heel spurs ( He said my wearing of a flat insert was useless because I needed to have the weight of my heel distrubuted around the heel spur). I am also getting a night splint to try. This has been since last Thursday, so I cannot give any results of this yet. I am only 10 lbs. overweight, which I have gained over the last 2 yrs from not being able to do activities, I am 128 lbs., so somehow I question weight as being a contributing factor of this Pf. as I have heard. I hope You have success with your new treatment, perhaps someone else will be able to contribute more information about the chronic heel pain syndrome. If nothing else I have gained a little hope back since going to this new Dr.
GOOD LUCK Marie
