After surgery...

I had the "complete release" done on 11-23 and am still having heel pain but it is getting much better. The first thing I did was go and buy a pair of Birkenstocks. Thanks to everyone who posted here about them. They help very much. The other thing is I've been going to physical therapy 3 times a week. This is only my first week and I've already noticed a big difference. The therapist tells me that the first thing that causes the heel spur is the calf muscle. When the calf muscle is tight it starts pulling on the fascia. Your body then throws calcium there to help the injury. He says most doctors try and treat the fascia and don't do anything about the calf muscle which caused the whole problem. I've started new stretching excersises for the calf muscle and the ankle and I've noticed a big improvement. I hope this helps some of you with your pain.
Thanks again for all those posts about Birkenstocks : )
