Shark Cartilage - anyone else tried it?

Posted by Fred on 3/03/99
J.B. posted a message a couple of days ago saying that after 6 months with p.f., he had started using shark cartilages and it worked to eliminate the pain after just 3 days! This sounds either too good to be true, or a hoax (i.e., a way to get people on this message board to run out and try something that won't do any good, but I ran out and got some anyway). I looked on the internet, and there doesn't seem to be any side effects to trying it, but it also sounded like it was more for joints, cancer, etc. (although I guess it does act as an anti-inflammatory, so maybe that's why it helped J.B.).

So my question is: has anyone else tried shark cartilage with positive results? Also, if you've used it, what about the dosage?

It says 4-6 740 mg capsules a day on the bottle, but I was wondering if anyone had tried anything different (something else on the net suggested 2-3 weeks of a capsule for each 11 lbs of body weight per day, which would be 16 a day for me and that sounds like a lot!).

P.S. - For anyone else who's thinking about trying it, the capsules actually have a strong smell of fish (as do the after-burbs), but what did I expect from a shark? Anyway, if it works, what the heck? Good luck!
