Having surgery next week (Sorry this is long)

Posted by CJ on 3/04/99
Well, it has finally come down to having the surgery done. It has been since last July that I had the car accident, and then problems with my foot.
The doctor will go in and cut the ligament and also take off the bone spur on my left foot.
I really hate that I have to have it done, but we have tried everything else.
Also, I hate that I have to be AWAKE for this proceedure. Anyone else been awake while this is done? Does it hurt alot since you see what he is doing, or do they dope you a bit before that?
It will be outpatient too, and I know that most surgeries are done that way now, but I am not happy about it.
They are billing my insurance too, so they had to get permission from the insurance company before next Wednesday. Guess it is ok, haven't heard anything else since 'pre-registered'.

Well, guys, it has been a long road, so being the big coward that I am, I hope that someone will tell me how their surgery went, so I know what to expect. I am scared and nervous about the whole thing.
Doctor said 90% are cured, 5% will stay the same and 5% will be worse.
I hope I am not in the "worse" column.
Wish me luck.
