MRI of the foot: is it useful?

A number of people have mentioned MRI's of the foot in the guestbooks. I would like to have one, because my PF is long-standing and severe. Nothing to date has helped it.

I have not been able to find a doctor with any enthusiasm for this procedure. I have been told the MRI is expensive and not very useful.

For those of you who have had an MRI of the foot: What did you learn? Do you feel it was useful in your diagnosis and treatment? If you especially liked the doctor who did this for you, what was his/her name and location? (I live in TX but am willing to travel.)
